Summer Park Program - Summer Park Program: Week 1 : July 6-July 10, 2026 Come join in the fun with our Recreation Department's full-day park program! We’re thrilled to welcome kids going into grades 1-6 to Tufts Park this summer, running Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. There’s so much to enjoy - swimming, playing games, making crafts, and going on exciting field trips! Please be aware that once you register, refunds will not be available in the event of a cancellation. However, a credit may be issued to your account should if you withdraw before April 1st, 2026. After this date, no credits will be issued. Registration begins Tuesday Feb 3rd at 9am. You can register for as many weeks as needed. American Red Cross Swim Lessons - Session 1: July 6-July 17 - Level 1 Medford Recreation has become an authorized provider to teach American Red Cross swim lessons at Tufts Pool this Summer. Swim lessons will remain the same as previous years, but our Instructors will now be teaching the Red Cross curriculum. Please register your child for the level you feel is appropriate. On the first day of class, Instructors will be evaluating skills and move children into the appropriate levels. Beginners: American Red Cross Level 1- Introduction to Water SkillsIn this class, children are new to swimming. Students will learn how to enter & exit the pool, put their face in the water, blow bubbles, float on their front & back, push off the wall, and kick on their front and back with assistance. Beginners: American Red Cross Level 2- Fundamental Aquatic SkillsThis class is for swimmers who are comfortable in the water. Students will work on independent floating, retrieving submerged objects, swimming on front and back independently, and treading water. Intermediate: American Red Cross Level 3 Stroke Development In this class, students must be able to swim independently on their front and back. Students will learn rotary breathing, elementary backstroke, scissors kick, dolphin kick, and kneeling dives. Advanced: American Red Cross Level 4 Stroke Improvement This class is for swimmers who can swim one full length of the pool front crawl and elementary backstroke. Students will learn breaststroke, back crawl, butterfly, and diving. All classes are 45 minutes long. Please be aware that once you register, refunds will not be available in the event of a cancellation. However, a credit may be issued to your account should if you withdraw before April 1st, 2026. American Red Cross Swim Lessons - Session 1: July 6-July 17 - Level 4 Medford Recreation has become an authorized provider to teach American Red Cross swim lessons at Tufts Pool this Summer. Swim lessons will remain the same as previous years, but our Instructors will now be teaching the Red Cross curriculum. Please register your child for the level you feel is appropriate. On the first day of class, Instructors will be evaluating skills and move children into the appropriate levels. Beginners: American Red Cross Level 1- Introduction to Water SkillsIn this class, children are new to swimming. Students will learn how to enter & exit the pool, put their face in the water, blow bubbles, float on their front & back, push off the wall, and kick on their front and back with assistance. Beginners: American Red Cross Level 2- Fundamental Aquatic SkillsThis class is for swimmers who are comfortable in the water. Students will work on independent floating, retrieving submerged objects, swimming on front and back independently, and treading water. Intermediate: American Red Cross Level 3 Stroke Development In this class, students must be able to swim independently on their front and back. Students will learn rotary breathing, elementary backstroke, scissors kick, dolphin kick, and kneeling dives. Advanced: American Red Cross Level 4 Stroke Improvement This class is for swimmers who can swim one full length of the pool front crawl and elementary backstroke. Summer Park Program Extended Day - Extended Day: Week 2: July 13-July 17 This program is to extend the day of the Summer Park Program from 8:30am-4:30pm to 8:30am-6:00pm. After the regular pick up time, children registered for the extended day will stay with our counselors for swim or play in the park until 6:00pm.
