In this bicycle class, children ages 3-5 will practice how to properly balance and prepare for bike riding. Each week, we will progressively transition from a tricycle, scooter, and balance bike. Each class, obstacle courses will be set up, along with fun games to learn about bicycle safety.Class will be at Tufts Park, behind the Swimming Pool. We will be using the path around the park. Picnic tables and limited wifi will be available for parents to use while their child participates in class. Children and spectators must wear a face mask. Please bring a water bottle and bicycle helmet to class. 
 
3:00 PM - 4:30 PM    Family Fishing Event - Family Fishing Event
In partnership with Mass Wildlife and Belmont Recreation, we will be hosting a family fishing clinic! The program will take place in Medford at Wright's Pond. We will provide all the fishing poles and bait, You provide the fun! Please wear a face mask while checking in for the fishing clinic. Once you are at your fishing location and distanced from others, you may remove your face mask. Please register each family member individually. IMPORTANT: If you are attending this event and are over the age of 18, you need a fishing license to fish. If you come and help your child(ren) fish, you do not need a license. In this newly added arts & crafts program, children will use their creativity each week to complete a new art project. Projects include ceramics, paintings, sketches, and jewelry making. In addition, picnic tables and limited wifi will be available for parents to continue working while their child is in this program. Children and spectators must wear a face mask.

This program introduces children to fundamental soccer principles such as passing, shooting and basic rules of the game. Through fun games, positive reinforcement, respect, and teamwork. This soccer program will provide children with an opportunity to be challenged through fun games and team interactions. Instructor: John TevesThis class will be meeting at Tufts Park, behind the Swimming Pool. Picnic tables will be available on the field along with limited wifi to allow parents to continue working while their child is in the soccer class.This class has been modified to meet COVID restrictions from the state. This introductory Lacrosse Clinic will teach the basics of the game including shooting, passing, and basic rules of the game. Instructor: Kate QuinnA limited amount of lacrosse sticks will be available to borrow. If you own a stick, please bring it to class. Class will be limited to drills only. Soft SWAX balls will be used for the clinic. Please send players to the clinic with eye protection. Please bring a water bottle and face mask to each class. Players and spectators will be required to wear a face mask at all times. Class will meet at Tufts Park, behind the swimming pool. Skyhawks Golf focuses on building the confidence of young athletes through proper technique and refining the essential skills of the game. As we know, golf is a challenging and lifelong sport, so young athletes need proper focus on the fundamentals of form, swinging, putting and body positioning. To assist in this training, Skyhawks utilizes the ShortGolf® system which uses modified equipment and a curriculum developed by PGA professionals. ShortGolf is specifically designed for the entry-level player and simplifies instruction so that young players can make an easy & effective transition onto the golf course. Medford Recreation in partnership with Belmont Recreation and Mass Wild Life will be running an Adaptive Fishing Program at Wright’s Pond.  During this  one-day program children will have the opportunity to learn how to fish in an adaptive setting.  On-site will be 4 professional staff as well as volunteers from the community.  Do to limited capacity each participant will be allowed ONLY 1 parent/ chaperon to attend the event with them.  This is a great opportunity for parents to connect with one another and further build their own community of supports and connections and to share ideas on programs we can further build to support our disabled youth. From forming lasting friendships through parent and caregiver connections our goal is to build and support our diverse and vibrant community through adaptive and inclusive recreation programs.  Upon registration we will reach out to you to discuss your child's specific needs, and ensure that we have appropriate accommodations to make this not only fun for all, but to ensure the safest and most compassionate environment for Medford's disabled youth. **Fish caught, will be returned to Wright's PondIMPORTANT: If you are attending this event and are over the age of 18, you need a fishing license to fish. This soccer program will provide children with an opportunity to be challenged through fun games and team interactions. Instructor: John TevesThis class will be meeting at Tufts Park, behind the Swimming Pool. Picnic tables will be available on the field along with limited wifi to allow parents to continue working while their child is in the soccer class.This class has been modified to meet COVID restrictions from the state. Please provide your own water bottle for each class. Our tennis programs focus on skill refinement as well as practice and match play to develop consistent, well-rounded tennis players. Each player is given personal attention and taught through repetition in an enjoyable, lively atmosphere. Skyhawks Sports tennis breaks down the fundamental skills of tennis through easily understood games and exercises to help improve the athlete’s overall coordination and technique. Players learn proper grips, footwork, strokes, volleys and serves during a series of drills designed to teach skills in a fun and dynamic way. In addition to developing a love for tennis, athletes will learn the rules and etiquette that make tennis such an exciting game to play. Due to limited court space, these programs fill quickly.

This program will follow COVID-19 state guidelines, including, no scrimmages or games.  Children and coaching staff will be required to wear a mask and frequent hand sanitizing will be encouraged.

Join Medford Recreation and the Medford Council on Aging for Pickleball this summer. There will be two courts set up – one for beginners and the other for intermediate/advanced players.

In this bicycle class, children ages 3-5 will practice how to properly balance and prepare for bike riding. Each week, we will progressively transition from a tricycle, scooter, and balance bike. Each class, obstacle courses will be set up, along with fun games to learn about bicycle safety.Class will be at Tufts Park, behind the Swimming Pool. We will be using the path around the park. Picnic tables and limited wifi will be available for parents to use while their child participates in class. Children and spectators must wear a face mask. Please bring a water bottle and bicycle helmet to class.

This introductory Lacrosse Clinic will teach the basics of the game including shooting, passing, and basic rules of the game. Instructor: Kate QuinnA limited amount of lacrosse sticks will be available to borrow. If you own a stick, please bring it to class. Class will be limited to drills only. Soft SWAX balls will be used for the clinic. Additional picnic tables will be available along with limited wifi for parents to continue working while their children are in our program. All painting equipment will be individually placed at each table. Skyhawks Golf focuses on building the confidence of young athletes through proper technique and refining the essential skills of the game. As we know, golf is a challenging and lifelong sport, so young athletes need proper focus on the fundamentals of form, swinging, putting and body positioning. To assist in this training, Skyhawks utilizes the ShortGolf® system which uses modified equipment and a curriculum developed by PGA professionals. ShortGolf is specifically designed for the entry-level player and simplifies instruction so that young players can make an easy & effective transition onto the golf course. No need to bring your own clubs, all equipment is provided.

In partnership with Mass Wildlife and Belmont Recreation, we will be hosting a family fishing clinic! The program will take place in Medford at Wright's Pond. We will provide all the fishing poles and bait, You provide the fun! Please wear a face mask while checking in for the fishing clinic. Once you are at your fishing location and distanced from others, you may remove your face mask. Please register each family member individually. IMPORTANT: If you are attending this event and are over the age of 18, you need a fishing license to fish. If you come and help your child(ren) fish, you do not need a license. Skyhawks Golf focuses on building the confidence of young athletes through proper technique and refining the essential skills of the game. As we know, golf is a challenging and lifelong sport, so young athletes need proper focus on the fundamentals of form, swinging, putting and body positioning. To assist in this training, Skyhawks utilizes the ShortGolf® system which uses modified equipment and a curriculum developed by PGA professionals. ShortGolf is specifically designed for the entry-level player and simplifies instruction so that young players can make an easy & effective transition onto the golf course. No need to bring your own clubs, all equipment is provided.

Skyhawks Golf focuses on building the confidence of young athletes through proper technique and refining the essential skills of the game. As we know, golf is a challenging and lifelong sport, so young athletes need proper focus on the fundamentals of form, swinging, putting and body positioning. To assist in this training, Skyhawks utilizes the ShortGolf® system which uses modified equipment and a curriculum developed by PGA professionals. ShortGolf is specifically designed for the entry-level player and simplifies instruction so that young players can make an easy & effective transition onto the golf course. No need to bring your own clubs, all equipment is provided.

This introductory Lacrosse Clinic will teach the basics of the game including shooting, passing, and basic rules of the game. Instructor: Kate QuinnA limited amount of lacrosse sticks will be available to borrow. If you own a stick, please bring it to class. Class will be limited to drills only. Soft SWAX balls will be used for the clinic.
