Medford Recreation will host learn to play clinics for children who are looking for a fun sport to be more active, build relationships, and learn core values. Our clinics will cover everything from how to properly stand in your roller blades to learning how to play and even managing & maintaining your equipment. Our experienced coaches and volunteers will guide your children from their very first steps onto the rink to the moment they confidently skate off at the end.
Some of the many things we will learn:
- How to skate
- Stick handling & shooting
- Rules of the game
- Penalties and other safety topics
- Understanding and maintaining equipment
- Most of all...have fun!
All players are REQUIRED to wear/use to following equipment:
- Street hockey stick or wooden ice hockey stick
- Rollerblades (preferably designed for in line hockey without brakes)
- Helmet (preferably designed for hockey w/ cage)
- Knee and elbow protection
- Mouth guard
- Protective cup for goalies
It is RECOMMENDED all players wear:
- Hockey gloves
- Hockey girdle
- Protective cup for non-goalies
