  • Swimming is only allowed when a lifeguard is present and on the pool deck.
  • Children under the age of 7 or under 4.5 feet tall must have a parent in the water with them at all times and be within arms reach.
  • Children under the age of 12 must have adult (18 or older) supervision.
  • Only Coast Guard Approved Lifejackets, Type I-III or Puddle Jumpers are allowed in the pool. Flotation Devices including swim bubbles, inner tubes, water wings, or inflatables are not permitted.
  • If you hear two long whistle blasts, please exit the pool immediately.
  • Prolonged underwater breath holding, hypoxic training, or “lung busters” is not permitted.
  • No glass is permitted on the pool deck or locker rooms.
  • Food and drink is permitted on the pool deck but not in the pool or at the water’s edge.
  • Chairs and sun bathing is permitted but must be away from the water’s edge and not interfere with patrons or staff moving around the pool deck.
  • Wading pool is restricted to children under 7 years of age. Children must be monitored by a parent or guardian at all times.
  • Dangerous behavior including running on the pool deck, diving in shallow water, jumping in the pool close to other swimmers, pushing, pulling, or dunking other swimmers is not permitted.
  • Radios and music must be played from headphones.
  • Cursing or inappropriate behavior is prohibited.
  • Patrons under the influence of alcohol or narcotics will not be admitted.

Deep End Test:

Children under the age of 18 must take a deep end test to swim past the first set of ropes (5ft or deeper) without a lifejacket. The test includes...

  • Swim one full length of the pool (25 meters). Face must be in the water with a rhythmic breathing (head up or to the side for breathing). The arms must be out of the water during the recovery stroke (No doggy paddle) and the kick must be out of the water. The body position must be horizontal or less than 20 degrees below the water.
  • Tread water for 30 seconds with a supporting kick.

Deep end tests will be conducted every 30 minutes by a lifeguard.

Children who pass the test will receive a green armband. This will visually let the lifeguards on duty know you can swim past the first rope without a lifejacket. If a lifeguard questions the swim ability, a manager can ask for the test to be retaken.

Once you pass the past, please see the Front Desk attendant when you leave the facility. You can be given a Deep End Test Card to show the front desk each time you visit the pool to recive the green armband without taking the test again.

Lifejackets:

Thanks to the Association of Aquatics Professionals and the Medford Kiwanis, Lifejackets are available at the pool. We encourage all non-swimmers to wear a lifejacket while visiting the pool. Please remember, a lifejacket should never replace proper adult supervision. Lifejackets must be sized properly and all buckles clipped and tightened. Please see a lifeguard off duty if you need help with properly fitting a lifejacket.

Board of Health:
  • All patrons must shower before entering the pool.
  • Patrons with open cuts, sores, bandages, colds, coughs or infected eyes will not be permitted to use the pool.
  • All infants and toddlers not toilet trained must wear a swim diaper or plastic pants. No cloth or disposable diapers are allowed.
  • Bathing suits must be worn while in the pool.
