Season
Wrights Pond will open on Monday, June 16, 2025 . Last day of the season is August 24.

Wednesday, July 9th- Wrights Pond will open at 12:30pm for a staff training.

Flotation Device Rule

Please Note: This year, only Coast Guard Approved Type 1-3 lifejackets or Puddle Jumpers will be allowed in the pond. Flotation devices including body boards, inflatable devices and beach balls are prohibited. 

A variety of approved life jackets are available to borrow by the main entrance; swimmers can ask staff for assistance finding the proper fit. 

Ball playing: please use a soft water ball to play catch in the water. Hard balls (ex: footballs) should be used in the grass area or on the beach away from sun bathers.

Operations

Wrights Pond is operated by the Recreation Department and maintained by the Parks Division. This pond is open and staffed with lifeguards at the end of June to the end of August. Wright's Pond is available for Medford residents only.

SEASON HOURS: 

2025 Season is June 16-August 24

Daily 10:00am-30 min before sunset
*Pond will open at 12:30pm on Tuesday, July 9 due to staff training

Snack Shack: 11:00am-7:00pm daily during pond season

Parking
Parking Lot is open only during operational hours.

Birthday Parties
The Recreation Department will take Birthday Party Reservations beginning June 4th, 2024 when passes will go on sale.

How to Purchase a Pond Pass

2025 Pass Sales will be on sale beginning June 3rd 
 

Proof of Residency:
When purchasing a season pass, you will need to provide proof of residency. Please provide your driver license or Massachusetts ID with a Medford address. If you purchase your pass on-line, please show proof of residency on your first visit. If you have recently moved to Medford, you may show a current utility bill that is in your name.

Financial Aid:
Financial Aid is available for Wright’s Pond and Tufts Pool Memberships for eligible families through the Medford Family Network. For more information, please contact Marie Cassidy at 781-393-2106 or mcassidy@medford.k12.ma.us

Pass Options: 
Vehicle Sticker (per vehicle): $55. Please note: Only one car load of visitors per day is allowed. 
Walk-In Pass (admits 1-3 people): $22

Passes for Seniors and Residents with Disabilities:
Vehicle Pass: $33 for vehicles with disability placards and for seniors 62 and older
Caregiver Vehicle Pass (per vehicle): $55. Caregiver passes are for vehicles belonging to a PCA or Aide while transporting a Medford Resident (adult) to the pond. The pass will be sold to the resident and they must be present in the vehicle when entering the pond. A photo ID must be presented to the park ranger each time when visiting. 

How to Purchase a Pond Pass: 
On-Line  - If you do not have a household account to log into the Medford Recreation website, please create one. Once your account has been approved (please allow up to 48 hours), you will receive an email confirmation and can log in to purchase a pass. Please print out your receipt or save the email confirmation. On your first visit to the pond, show the Front Desk your receipt along with proof of residency. Recreation Staff members will issue you the vehicle pass or key tag.

In-Person:
Once the pond opens for the season, passes will be sold on site at the Snack Shack during operational hours.
